We are gardeners first. The garden is organic in every corner — no synthetic sprays, no shortcuts, and a great deal of compost. We plant for pollinators as well as people, and we leave some things a little wild on purpose.
Our interest in herbs is a gardener's interest: their history, their scent, their place at the kitchen door and in old cottage borders. We're not a clinic or a pharmacy — we don't make medical claims for what we grow. What we do offer is a beautiful garden to walk in, and the knowledge that comes from tending these plants year after year.
The garden sits on a couple of quiet acres at West Melton, on the Canterbury Plains. On a clear day the Southern Alps are just visible above the shelterbelts.
Grown organically
Every bed is tended without synthetic sprays, with compost made on-site.
Kept for wildlife
Bees, hoverflies, silvereyes and skinks all keep the garden with us.
Open to visitors
A garden is more alive when it's shared. You're welcome any open day.
